Indictment.   (Pronounced in-DITE-munt.) A formal, written charge of criminal misconduct presented to a court of law, usually by a grand jury. (A grand jury is a body of twelve to twenty-three citizens appointed to examine criminal accusations to decide whether there is enough evidence to require a public trial.)
