Thank you for continuing publication of the U.S. Constitution without adding personal bias or agenda. So many disagreements arise from lack of understanding the foundation of our Country. I am only one person, but I am one person and I can acquire copies of the U. S. Constitution and share them, thanks to you.
Simply the most brilliant concept of a free people to govern themselves ever conceived by humankind. Living updatable language to fit the advancing societal order. Described by its authors thusly:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Why did we not get this kind of background information while going to grade and high school??? This is truly amazing information that will enlighten and encourage you to love our founding generation and constitution!

Mercy Otis Warren wrote in Observations on the New Constitution:
“...[G]government is instituted for the protection, safety, and happiness of the people, and not for the profit, honour or private interest of any man, family, or class of men...the origin of all power is in the people, and they have an incontestable right to check the creatures of their own creation, vested with certain powers to guard the life, liberty and property of the community."
We tend to accept that people in authority must be right. It's this assumption that Socrates wanted us to challenge by urging us to think logically about the nonsense they often come out with, rather than being struck dumb by their aura of importance and air of suave certainty.

The idea of ‘God given rights’ was challenged as “dangerous” because it is an interpretation of God’s will, but it was a widely held almost unanimous . interpretation. If rights are not determined by god, that begs the question … then by whom? A political or social party? Another argument against the idea of God’s will is that some people in the past regarded slavery as God’s will, but this glosses over the idea that slavery was abolished on the principle that slaves had God given rights.
By basing the idea of rights as something bestowed by God alone, aside from any religion, it places the idea above the threats of any interpretation, social or political. Without God in the equation, the idea of rights falls into the realm of politics alone, which is a precarious place to be resting human rights. This is why the idea of God given rights was incorportaed into the national laws of the United States, as it places the idea of rights above any designs made by politicians. There has never been any perfect law, or system of government, so attempts were made to provide as many safeguards in the Constitution as possible, and the best safeguard for human rights is holding them as something God given, not something that is determined by politics or any social mindset alone.

When folks cry hypocrisy of the Founders, I cringe and think back to the claim, “where were you when the paper was blank?” If they’re going to compare, they should reflect on the automobile they own today, for example, as compared to the one of 30-40 years ago. By today’s standards, it polluted, was unsafe, uneconomical, a guzzled gas, and was inefficient transportation. Why didn’t they cry out then demanding all of the features of today’s auto’s? Hypocrites, I say. Because they haven’t stopped to analyze and compare what the space of time provides for the evolution of humanity. This is a result, I believe, of the failure of public education and the inability of folks today to think critically. Just saying…

Although America’s founders were arguably sometimes hypocritical, we should remember that it’s not easy for anyone to escape from the established conventions of his/her day, and so we should evaluate them mercifully as a result. More importantly, the ideals that they championed helped to start America’s long-term process of overcoming such hypocrisy. It was during the American Revolution that some women were first granted the right to vote. And it was due to the Founders’ ideals that northern states banned slavery, middle states phased-out slavery, and southern states rendered manumission easier. For decades thereafter, southern slaves and others viewed the U. S. Declaration of Independence rather as a promissory note that was yet to be fulfilled—-and such ongoing attitudes toward the Founders’ ideals helped to bring about the eventual nationwide abolition of slavery. And, so, their legacy ultimately prevailed over the hypocrisy of their day, for which they richly deserve our praise.

I love this blog, this one is my favorite so far.
I like how it gives conviction to the gospel. People talk about the constitution, rights and liberty yet very seldom talk about God and how it all connects. I thank God everyday for the nccs.net for they have taught me our people so much. 🙏🏻 Thank you God Bless.
